What is Stephen Ministry?
Stephen Ministry was started by Dr. Kenneth C. Haugk in 1974, and after training nine lay people to serve as the first Stephen Ministers, he and his wife Joan founded the Stephen Ministry St Louis organization in 1975. Stephen Ministry is named after St. Stephen, one of the first laypeople commissioned by the apostles to provide care and to serve those in need (as described in Acts 6). Stephen Ministers are trained volunteers who offer one-on-one Christ-centered support, listening, praying, and encouraging people going through difficult times. Stephen Ministry at Living Savior
Living Savior has been a Stephen Ministry congregation since 1994. Stephen Ministry offers a proven and effective way to organize, equip, and supervise a team of congregation members—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, confidential, one-to-one, Christ-centered care to people experiencing life difficulties. Our Pastor will always be on the front lines of providing care, and our Stephen Ministry team is there to expand his reach and provide a longer-term caring relationship as needed.
